“The artists who use the Cois Cladaigh resource centre in Bruach na Mara are all from the South Connemara area and have a deep connection with the sea.
When we looked at the idea of a Clay Journey we immediately though of the sea and the rich boating tradition along the Connemara coast.
All the pieces that the artists created were inspired by their experience with the sea and boats, many of whom have family links with fishing and boat racing going back generations.
The actual use of clay and it’s wonderful tactile ability to express texture and colour really fascinated and inspired everyone.
We are already planning future adventures in clay now that we realise it’s potential as a wonderful artistic medium.”
